{design style}

I love classic clean lines. I get giddy over rustic industrial loft style. Let's be honest: I'm giddy about design no matter what the aesthetic. I love old-world European (both regal and peasant styles). I love hard-working spaces that respect history. I need pragmatic modern functionality. I dig quality construction and clean lines. I love it all mixed up and made to look quite unpretentious. I'm a massive fan of so many brilliant design styles and the fantastic history that created them. I'm a design nerd, a lover of materiality, an architecture fangirl, an unabashed dork about texture. It all makes me incredibly joyous.

Give me an inviting room that anyone can walk into and put their feet up to use over a place that looks like a museum any day of the week. Man, I love museums. Worn, but not worn out. Semi-Casual, but sophisticated.

Elegant, but not overly fussy. Everyone needs a place where they can kick up their heels after clicking them three times. Domestic Empress by design would love to help you with every room in your home.

The last few years, I've been in design school and am on the brink of finding full-time work for the internship credits I need to graduate with my Bachelor of Applied Science. Yes, there's more than art to design. It's a scientific and researched approach that creates workplaces, sports arenas, governmental buildings, shopping centers, eateries, public gathering spaces, functional event venues, and healthcare buildings. Most of our lives happen indoors. We need spaces we live, work, learn, play, and heal in to be good for us, the environment, and everyone on the planet.

Design is life. How I choose to show up in the world these days is to be the best person I can be while working toward creating more inviting places that give encouragement, healing, and empowerment to those who travel and live in them.
